Let's set the scene: small rural villages, the heat of summer, drive-ins, rodeo, the smell and sound of guns, the descent of the river on inner tubes, family discussions. It is in this atmosphere that Anne Rearick's photographic history is created. Born in 1960 in the United States, the photographer spent part of her childhood with her grandfather in Boise, Idaho, where her family had settled three generations earlier. "True West" is a long-term project that plunges us into this daily life, as far as its subjects allow. In a cinematographic style, Anne Rearick follows in the tradition of humanist documentary photographers such as Dorothea Lange or Diane Arbus.
