Diane Venet bought her first piece of artist's jewellery in New York in 1967. It was a brooch by the American painter Roy Lichtenstein. But it was above all her meeting with Bernar Venet, who was to become her husband, that made her aware of her passion for artist's jewellery. From her love for the sculptor grew an unconditional love for modern and contemporary art. In 30 years, she has collected more than 230 pieces of artists' jewellery, which she obtains from meetings, from Diane Venet and even from orders placed directly with the artists. They include Louise Bourgeois, Picasso, Niki de Saint-Phalle, Frank Stella, Orlan and many others. Not only does she collect them, she wears them! For Diane Venet, these pieces are much more than just jewellery, they are works of art that are at the origin of every artist's work. This is why, for this exceptional exhibition, the precious jewels are displayed in dialogue with sculptures by artists such as André Derain, Max Ernst and Bernar Venet.
