This summer, the Centre turned to Asia. After Japan, China. And which China? That of Cao Fei, a major artist in the Chinese artistic scene, with a delirious, methodical project called "HX". This exhibition marks the international debut of "Hongxia", a research project for a collection of unpublished works, including a feature film, a video collection, photographs and archival documents, as well as installations created from objects found during the artist's research. "HX" is the result of nearly four years of meticulous research carried out on district 798Space, known as "HX", a former industrial territory at the gates of Beijing and the laboratory of a new world in creation. "HX" is probably Cao Fei's most ambitious artistic project to date. You can feel the tremendous transformation of a country in the throes of unbridled modernization.
