One of the great Chinese artists, practicing mineral painting again exhibited in Paris. It was in 1989, at the legendary exhibition "Les magiciens de la Terre" at the Pompidou Centre, where he exhibited for the first time, that Yang Jiechang changed his life and moved to Paris. Initiated in calligraphy and traditional Chinese painting, a graduate of the Guangshou Academy of Fine Arts, he works primarily around the medium of ink. One hundred layers of ink that he presented at the Pompidou exhibition patiently treats rice paper, gas strips and ink, accumulated in layers to play with relief and brilliance. Little by little, he changed his support for his painting, which became figurative by painting on tissue paper, and ended up working with ceramics and sculpture, where painting limited him. Jeanne Bucher Jaeger Gallery has been representing Yang Jiechang for 30 years now, having collaborated with him on several event exhibitions. For this anniversary, she proposes to rediscover her work through 20 emblematic pieces from the artist's different creative periods.
