As the title indicates, this exhibition revolves around two of Dorothy Iannone's key works: "Ecstasy" and "Roulette Table, Love is my inspiration". To better understand the art of the American artist, a letter from her German friend, Jan Voss, was written especially for the occasion. Her personal life has had an enormous impact on her artistic practice: fifty years ago, Dorothy Iannone moved to Düsseldorf, Germany with her husband, Dieter Roth. The latter inspired her enormously, to the point of becoming her muse! We can see it especially in Extase, a set of drawings accompanied by a song by Robert Filliou. Met in 1966 in Antibes, the Filliou will become very close to the couple Iannone-Roth. It is in 1970 that is published the collection with the drawings and the lyrics of the song paillarde. As for "Roulette Table, Love is my inspiration", it consists of a table, a casino roulette wheel and four figurines cut out of wood. These "Giant People" are none other than Jan Voss, the couple Filliou and Dorothy Iannone as a dealer. The little gang played regularly at the casino in Düsseldorf in the 1970s.
