For her second solo exhibition at the Jeanne Bucher Jaeger Gallery in the Marais, German artist Evi Keller invades the space of the Marais with steles and takes you on an initiatory journey into the world of the elements in the making. Her work questions the cosmic principle of the transformation of matter by light. The imprints of the moment [sculptures, paintings, photographs, videos, sounds and performances] reveal a process of substan- tialization, which is progressively embodied and transfigured in installations that the artist designates as spaces of transition. The journey through these spaces has guided the artist towards Matter-Light creations that bear witness to the Anthropocene. Made of carbon born in the stars, the essential core of all living matter and recycled by man, these works are animated and transmuted by absorption, transmission and reflection into changing materials in interaction with the viewer. In this way, Evi Keller transforms the memory of hundreds of millions of years into works of art through an alchemical process.
