Le Cannet
Musée Bonnard
26 Jun → 3 Oct 2021
From Tuesday to Sunday, from 10am to 8pm (July-August), and from 10am to 6pm (September to June). Closed on Monday
In this exhibition, which is the first part of the exhibitions organised for the museum's 10th anniversary, discover how modern artists have dealt with the subject of self-portraiture. Bonnard of course, but also Cézanne, Chagall, Tal Coat, Denis, Goetz, Matisse, Picasso, Poliakoff, Roussel, Van Dongen, Vuillard and many others... Paintings that reveal the physical features of the artists and bring a moral and psychological dimension to the subject of self-portraiture. Is it a question of introspection, of presenting oneself to the world, of personal work? Whatever the case, they all try to answer one and the same question: "who am I? Much more than a simple pictorial representation, the self-portrait is a matter of intimacy and morality. An exceptional exhibition, with the support of the Musée d'Orsay.
