From December 15th in France, galleries can reopen their doors for our great pleasure. (Re)Discover Frida Kahlo as you've never seen her before! The Gallery de L'Instant presents original pictures of the Mexican artist until March 14th. During her stay in New York in 1933, Diego Rivera's assistant Lucienne Bloch took some photographs of her chief's beloved. The two women were very close and became friends. This complicity lead to intimate and revealing portraits of Frida Kahlo's personality: sitting in a hotel room, kissing Diego or playing with his necklace... Her piercing and intense gaze left its mark on people's minds. She has always been a great source of inspiration! Feminist and innovative, she was a revolutionary woman, as much in her political ideas as in her plastic representations. This exhibition was born out of a visit to another exhibition in New York in 2019, entitled Apperances can be Deceiving. Not only were Frida Kahlo's works exhibited there, but also her personal belongings! A real revelation for the gallery owner, Julia Gragnon who, after buying a print during the same journey, got in contact with Lucienne Bloch's granddaughter. An exhibition of simple but powerful portraits of an extraordinary artist. A must see!
