Without knowing it, you may have already seen a work by Jaume Plensa. In Paris, Place Vendôme, or in Bordeaux with his work Sanna, which has taken up residence in Place de la Comédie, or in Nice, Place Masséna. These works produce a "wow" effect. It is quite rare to remain insensitive, without emotion in front of the beauty, the gigantism, the softness of the portraits, mostly feminine that the Catalan artist produces. Adapting to the health situation, Galerie Lelong & Co. presents "The True Portrait", an exclusively online exhibition of recent sculptures and works on paper by Jaume Plensa, accompanied by a text by Catherine Millet. This exhibition questions once again the portrait, its place in the age of the selfie on social networks. But Plensa remains faithful to his approach, that of exploring the smallest meanders of a being, and that passes in large part by the figure. He explores all the facets to try to mark the humanism, and a form of universality. Sculptor above all, handling materials such as marble, cast iron, resin, kerosene, glass, water or light with brio, Jaume Plensa concentrates his work especially around the human being. Indeed, most of his works tend to make the link between man and soul, spirituality and ethnic diversity. This lover of language plays with the various alphabets to focus his message around the human being, once again. To discover online : online.galerie-lelong.com/fr/jaume-plensa-the-true-portrait/
