The American artist Kool Koor has created new works during his residency at the Château Forbin in Marseille, from April to May 2021. On this occasion, they are collected under the title "Rooks & Robots". The rook is a special move of the king and one of the rooks in chess. The robots are the futuristic side of Kool Koor's previous work. Like a balance sheet, this exhibition brings his creative residency at the castle to a close, as if to show the entirety of his journey and his original method. The former sidekick of Jean-Michel Basquiat and Keith Haring is considered one of the most important artists of the New York urban scene in his early years. It is also an opportunity to dive into the permanent collection of the Château Forbin, a contemporary art centre dedicated to graffiti and post-graffiti of the 1980s. Located in the Calanques National Park in Marseille, Château Forbin is blessed with a unique and preserved environment.
