Guimet Museum
4 Dec → 9 Mar 2020
From Wednesday to Monday from 10 am to 6 pm. Closed Tuesday.
The Guimet Museum has become the recipient of the largest collection of Korean textiles outside Korea, thanks to the exceptional textile donation of LEE Chungwoo, the daughter of the famous Korean designer LEE Young-hee (1936-2018). Through this collection of clothing, it is the image of a modern and uncomplicated Korea, proud of its refined tradition that stands out. LEE Young-hee finds her inspiration in hanbok, the traditional clothing of Korean women. She began her career by recreating costumes from paintings, a true historical reconstruction in form, fabric and embroidery. This taming of his country's history finally led him to produce a hanbok with free forms for the haute-couture podiums. She works with materials and forms, between tradition and innovation, with a constant concern for reinvention. Its "fabrics of winds and dreams" enchant international fashion shows and, with this exhibition, the Musée Guimet invites us to experience the same wonder.
