Impossible to miss this emblematic figure in the history of French cinema! Louis de Funès is in everyone's mind. His bewildered air, his exaggerated mimics, his phrasing punctuated by the exclamation points of his famous lines: "Ma biche! ", " It's not possible?! ", " Get the hell out of here! ». The actor starts his career late, but he continues it in grandiloquence and his genius explodes with colour in La Grande Vadrouille. The Cinémathèque pays tribute to him today. The story of Louis de Funès is the story of a jazzman turned actor, who gradually imposes his rhythm in his films, until he becomes the author-composer of characters to his excess. He mimes, dances, leaps, just like his mute heroes. His filmography follows the History of France, from the Occupation to the Glorious Thirties. In it, he incarnates the most unjust characters, from the domestic tyrant to the rankless rising up the ladder. Joyfully, he makes fun of foxes, liars or angry people, as if to provide a real outlet for everyone. This frenzied tempo, and the liberating laughter it provokes, makes his playing timeless, which is still celebrated today.
