The photographer Marc Riboud has been visiting China for more than 50 years. His shots of urban landscapes and sacred places give a multiple image of the same country. Through 40 specially selected shots, discover magnificent photographs straight out of the photographer's personal archives. Incredible! It is half a century of Chinese history that the Polka gallery presents, in parallel with a retrospective at the Guimet National Museum of Asian Arts gathering the rarest images of Marc Riboud's career. At the Polka gallery, we see the images that forged Riboud's legend: a popular China and its rural inhabitants, an intellectual China and its artists of the Cultural Revolution of the 1960s, a military China and its soldiers armed to the teeth, but also a China that is opening up to Western capitalism. In short, these are the Chineses that Marc Riboud has photographed for so many years. The country of the rising sun never stops moving, divided between tradition and modernity.
