Do you dream of visiting Pompeii? Are you passionate about ancient Rome? How about taking your children on an immersive experience in unknown lands and times? The Grand Palais offers you a breathtaking tour of the ancient Roman site. Pompeii was buried under stones and ashes after an eruption of Vesuvius in 79 BC. When it was rediscovered by archaeologists, they were all surprised by the exceptional conservation of certain buildings, decorations, mosaics and paintings. This gave them a fairly accurate idea of what the city looked like, and today it remains one of the most vivid traces of this ancient past. At the Grand Palais, an immersive tour plunges visitors into the heart of Pompeii through very high-definition 360° projections, sound creations and 3D reconstructions of streets and houses. Combining technology and archaeology, the exhibition tells the fascinating story of this city and the (re)discoveries made possible by the excavations.
