A thousand jobs as a photographer! What greatness, what wealth! Yet initially destined for the law, René-Jacques (born René Giton, 1908-2003) was in turn reporter for l'Intransigeant, illustrator for Grasset publishing house, industrial photographer for Renault. The Jeu de Paume exhibition offers an opportunity to rediscover a photographer with demanding imagery in which nothing is trivial. Each image is thought out. His universe is nourished by his previous experiences, the materials and lights he has been able to confront. Responding to the demands of his clients implies proposing, beyond a technically perfect image, a renewed vision of the landscape, the monument or the industrial object. René-Jacques is sometimes the defendant of his artistic practice. In order to assert the rights of photographers and to help the recognition of their art, he joins groups such as "Le Rectangle" or the "Groupe des XV" and helps unions and associations such as the advertising photography union. A thousand activities and photographs to discover today. An exhibition organized with the assistance of the Médiathèque de l'architecture et du patrimoine, Ministry of Culture.
