Photographer Sebastião Salgado travelled through the Amazon for 6 years to capture the landscapes and inhabitants of the Brazilian forest. The result is breathtaking! Photographs never before shown to the general public, accompanied by a sound montage by Jean-Michel Jarre specially created for the occasion. It is an invitation to see and hear the forest in order to better (re)think about ecology and man's place in the world. An exhibition where all your senses will be overwhelmed! In line with his Genesis project, which presents the most remote regions of the planet, Sebastião Salgado wanted to capture the majestic beauty of the Amazonian forest and the people who inhabit it. Like a visual illustration of Claude Lévi-Strauss's encounter with the Brazilian Indians in Tristes Tropiques, the aim is to capture a human reality. The photographer met eleven different ethnic groups in their environments. Places where time seems to stand still, where the destructive human has fortunately never passed. Rivers and mountains sometimes reach up to 3000m high. Enough to make you dizzy! In addition to this deeply human encounter, the aim is to highlight the fragility of the Earth's green lung. The 150 photographs interact with Jean-Michel Jarre's sound creation, made from sounds collected on the spot: shivering trees, animal cries, birdsong, the tumult of water on the rock... A total immersion in the tropical forest! The Brazilian photographer and the UNESCO ambassador in 1993 collaborate on a project based on the country's cultural pluralism and environmental protection on a global scale. Breathtaking!
