Clichy
Vendôme Pavilion
11 Jun → 14 Aug 2021
Open every day from 9am to 6pm. Closed on Sundays.
For the first time at the Pavillon Vendôme, street art takes over the city of Clichy. The listed building is hosting a retrospective dedicated entirely to the artist Sunset, a master of urban art in France. Some forty works retrace his various creative periods over nearly 300m2. The Frenchman Sunset (sun7) discovered graffiti at the dawn of the 1990s. From then on, he covered the walls of Paris and New York with his aerosol works. As a portraitist, the calligraphy he uses allows the motif to appear, without outline or drawing. Recently, his graffiti have been tending towards abstraction. The creation of forms from automatic writing is a singular practice in the graffiti world, as is the work of Sunset. The rentingART agency, which specialises in organising exhibitions, is behind this initiative, which aims to bring art to as many people as possible. The exhibition is complemented by guided tours, free introductory street art workshops and a meeting with the artist. Don't forget to book!
