Fantasies of a difficult life with a succession of hospital stays and troubled periods, complicated love stories, tragic death... This is often what we remember about Unica Zürn's life, to the detriment of her dense and diverse work. Today, Sainte-Anne takes the opposite side of this presentation of the artist. Although the exhibition focuses on the creative period in Sainte-Anne's life, the collected works testify to the desire to showcase her talent by showing the widest possible sample of her work, accompanied by documentary pieces. Unica Zürn's unique style is a testimony to her ongoing research. Although she is a fine artist, she is nevertheless driven by a fantastic and inexhaustible imagination. She uses complex and varied techniques: numerous Chinese inks, gouaches, oils and collages on a more occasional basis. Her compositions give the impression of infinite possibilities, both in terms of the technical exploitation and the figuration of the subject. In this way, the artist detaches herself from her simple mortal history, in one of the places where she lived it, and shows herself in this exhibition as a great creator.
