« A committed artist, too rare in France, to pass by!  »

Born in 1957 in Belgium, designer Walter Van Beirendonck is a colourful personality whose work makes an immediate impression! In a permanent challenge, the artist presents a work with a very graphic style. He mixes colours, textures, techniques, crosses abstraction and figuration, is inspired by politics, ecology, music or sexuality. Often considered as offbeat and punk-revolutionary, his work never lacks sincerity and independence. Walter Van Beirendonck creates without worrying about the trends and directions that the fashion market may suggest. In this new exhibition, beaded and hand-embroidered scarecrows (scarecrows) with militant looking messages are presented: DEMAND BEAUTY, RESPECT, STOP TERRORIZING OUR PLANET, SAVE SEX. Miniature pearl sculptures, embodying Walterman, the artist's alter ego, accompany them and hold the same kind of slogans. By evoking political and social tensions, the artist shares with us his vision of a world in permanent struggle. In this struggle, he reinvents the norms of beauty, disrupts the codes of male fashion and questions the representation of the body and the place of fashion.
