You all know bamboo, this plant, which is found in Chinese cuisine, or today in the textile industry. But do you know its symbolism, its place in Chinese culture? No ? Well, the Chinese painter Xiao fan RU, who returns to Paris with a new series of paintings, entitled "Passage", gives you the keys to reading it. His paintings reveal often desolate landscapes, where the green plains give way to barren land. It draws on the heritage of Italian Art History and Renaissance (Piero della Francesca, Paolo Uccelo) as well as Asian cultural symbols, including bamboo. A sign of peace in Feng Shui, it is also a bearer of joy, a symbol of fertility and righteousness. While the bamboo is still standing, Man seems to be disappearing little by little.
